Overview


Our Recovery Treatment Assistant (RTA) Supervisor assists the Chief Nursing Officer with the supervision of Recovery Treatment Assistant (RTA) staff. In addition, this position will be responsible for providing leadership and direction in the completion of assigned tasks, ?hands-on? training through skill demonstration and role modeling, oversight of unit-based orientation programs, and will collaborate with RTA preceptors in training new staff.

Qualifications


Education:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor?s degree in Mental Health or Human Services preferred.


Experience:



  • Three (3) years of experience as RTA (or equivalent).?

  • Three (3) years of experience in a forensic or secure psychiatric setting preferred. ?

  • Familiarity with the principles of the recovery model and trauma informed care. ?

  • One (1) year of experience in training and development of peers is required. ?

  • Must process excellent communication and organizational skills.?


Licenses/Certifications:



  • Certified instructor in aggression management preferred.?



Responsibilities


  1. In consultation with unit nursing staff, plans, coordinates, and supervises the delivery of care by RTAs for an assigned unit. Reviews documentation within the medical record created by unit staff; oversees and assist with the therapeutic environment of the unit.

  2. Provides 'hands-on' training through skill demonstration and role modeling. Motivates and guides staff to identify problem and create solutions, facilitates constructive conflict resolution. Demonstrates knowledge of Recovery Planning and Joint Commission, MA Department of Correction, MA Department of Health and CCRS policy requirements.

  3. Evaluates and validates core competencies for all RTAs on an annual basis. Provides input to Nurse Managers and Nursing Supervisors for staff performance evaluations.

  4. Coordinates the unit-based orientation program and collaborates with RTA preceptors in training new staff. Assists with the development of training coursework and modules.

  5. Assesses the training needs of RTAs through interview, survey, and observation.

  6. Generates reports relating to delivery of care. Monitors, reports and assists with the resolution of patient safety issues. Performs various administrative duties as needed for efficient program administration.

  7. Participates and assists in new patient orientation to the facility as needed.

  8. Is sensitive to cultural diversity issues, treats person served as an individual, and considers the culture of the person served when providing care and treatment.

  9. Is knowledgeable about care and treatment needs across the lifespan.? Provides individualized care and treatment that is consistent with/sensitive to the age and life span developmental needs of each patient.

  10. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.

  11. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.

  12. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.

  13. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.

  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
