2nd Cl Power Plant Eng - CoGen

Participates in the operationand maintenance of a combined heat plant (CHP) station during an assignedshift; cleans, maintains, repairs and operates steam generators and theirauxiliary equipment such as oil burners, boiler feed pumps, flow meter,compressors, generators, and other power plant equipment; makes rounds of PowerPlant during his/her watch and observes operation of all equipment; supervises3rd Class Engineer and Steam Fireman assigned to his/her watch, instructs plantpersonnel in Power Plant operating procedures and proper safety procedures tobe used when equipment is taken out of service; keeps station diary log onhis/her assigned watch recording gauge readings, fuel consumed, powergenerated, kilowatts purchased, water pumped, maintenance work performed andany other pertinent data; performs all other related duties as requested.Maintains and files DEP annual source registration and semi-annual compliancecorrespondence.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of the principalsand practices used in the operation of a high pressure steam co-generatingstation; working knowledge of types and uses of electrical generatingequipment; ability to operate boilers and heat recovery steam generators andancillary equipment; ability to perform arithmetic calculations with speed andaccuracy; knowledge of calibrating and/or adjustment techniques; willingness towork various hours and/or irregular shifts; ability to maintain accuraterecords; manual dexterity; mechanical aptitude.
Applicants must have no felonyconvictions, to include any actions defined in 5 U.S.C. 301; U.S.C. 509, 510;42 U.S.C. 15601-15609. The Massachusetts Department of Correction shall nothire anyone who may have direct contact with offenders, who has engaged insexual abuse in a prison or other institution as defined in 42 U.S.C. 1997; orwho has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activityin the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force orcoercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse,or who has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in theactivity described in the above paragraph. The agency shall consider anyincidents of sexual harassment in determining whether to hire anyone who mayhave contact with offenders or residents.

Possession of a Second Class or higher Stationary Engineers license, based on the standards established by the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety and pursuant to Chapter 146 of the Massachusetts General Laws, is required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
